38-year-old Ebone Whitaker missed her scheduled appearance last week because she was in the hospital.

The court ordered Whitaker to remain behind bars, saying she is an "extreme risk" to society.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 24.

Police say Whitaker was high on methamphetamine, heroin, and PCP on the night of Aug. 3.

Authorities accuse Whitaker of speeding while driving under the influence seconds before a crash that killed 16-year-olds Citlali Mora and Nelly Amaya-Ramirez as they were crossing the street near Twain Avenue and Maryland Parkway.
