Tax Day freebies, deals in Las Vegas

Tax Day, which is April 18 this year, can be stressful for some people and there are several businesses locally and across the nation that are offering deals or freebies to help ease the stress.

Here is what is happening locally:

Taxpayers can get a free coffee or latte and a pastry or bagel courtesy of Zappos on April 18. Several businesses will be participating in the 5th annual Zappos Tax Day. They include: Mothership Coffee, Sunrise Coffee, Sambalatte (Boca Park location), Grouchy John's, TIABI, PublicUs and Makers and Finders. The offer is only good until 10 a.m. and other restrictions may apply.

Garrett Popcorn inside Miracle Mile Shops is offering a "Tax On Us" promotion through April 21 where they will cover the sales tax on all Garrett Popcorn purchases. Must mention the promotion at checkout.

The Steamie Weenie is offering a little relief on Tax Day by taking 15 percent off of total bills.

KONA Ice will help taxpayers chill out by offering free shaved ice at Saver's on West Lake Mead from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The island-inspired truck will also be handing out complimentary leis to all who stop by.

Grimaldi's Pizzeria is offering special Tax Day pricing on April 18. A traditional 16-inch pizza will be available for $10.40 at any of the 5 Las Vegas locations, dine in or take out (not valid on DoorDash).

The Utah Shakespeare Festival is hoping to give taxpayers something to look forward to. They are offering $4 off all tickets purchased online through April 18. The 2018 season begins June 29 with "As You Like It." Other plays include "Romeo and Juliet," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Tavern," "How to Fight Lonliness" and William Shakespear's Long Lost First Play (abridged).

Sushi Roku believes that the best way to spend your tax refund is on their new High Roller Sake Pairing featuring a premium sake flight, served alongside the High Roller, an extravagant off-menu roll made with high-end ingredients including Japanese Wagyu beef, Toro, sea urchin, caviar, lobster, asparagus, fresh truffle, gold flakes, and sushi rice. Cost is $280. If you aren't getting a refund this year, you might want to check out their Red Sun Happy Hour, which features their favorite dishes for just $4 to $7.

Crazy Horse III is offering a VIP package titled "Blow Your Refund" for anyone who wants to celebrate Tax Day. The package includes ne bottle each of Ultimat Vodka and Patrón with all of the mixers, as well as a loaded money gun filled with 50 "Washingtons."
