A woman is grieving over the death of her husband while her son is in jail, charged with the crime.
Maria Ngenza was questioned for more than half an hour Monday during her son Eugene Tshiyombo's preliminary hearing.
As she was forced to relive the day last December her husband Mbayi Ngenza was killed, she vividly remembered police putting handcuffs on her 21-year-old son.
Ngenza broke into tears as she recalled being told her husband's body was under the bed.
Henderson police say Tshiyombo shot his father during an argument.
People who knew Tshiyombo told 13 Action News he was a quiet and innocent student who may have bristled under his father's strictness.
In court Monday, his lawyer painted a picture of the dead man as a domineering authority figure.
Maria Ngenza confirmed that portrayal, saying her controlling husband didn't allow her to drive or have friends outside of the house.
