LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — With the Centers for Disease Control sounding the alarm about more cases of the coronavirus breaking out across the country, preparation is underway in and around Las Vegas.

The Southern Nevada Health District says it is the agency that takes the lead in the event of an outbreak in our area.

Its staff is in both constant communication with the CDC as well as local first responders, businesses, and casinos about anything they might need to do.

SNHD says it has a pandemic plan in place for any outbreak of disease, including the coronavirus, but right now it is not sharing specific details due to the fact the CDC is updating its own response and directives.

The agency asks people in the community to continue helping prevent the spread of disease by washing hands with soap and water, and staying away from work and others if you have cold or flu-like symptoms.

The SNHD also says, as of right now there are no confirmed cases of the coronavirus anywhere in Southern Nevada, but if it’s found here, there is a plan.
