LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — UPDATE AUG. 20: The Clark County Coroner has identified the victim as 28-year-old Anthony Markell Richards. Richards death was the result of a gunshot wound to the buttocks and has been ruled a homicide.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating an overnight incident where one person was killed during an illegal house party.
Police say a shooting happened at a long-term rental property in the 8800 block of Hickam Avenue, near Craig Road and Jones Boulevard, at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
A man in his 20s was dropped off at Centennial Hills Hospital, suffering from several gunshot wounds, according to officers.
LVMPD Lt. Ray Spencer urges anyone who sees illegal house parties to notify authorities immediately.
"If you notice anybody having house parties that are large gatherings, please reach out to police so we can send more officers and hopefully prevent more incidents like the one I'm out here now talking about," Spencer said.
Las Vegas police say there have been 15 shootings and three other homicides at short term rentals during the recent months.
Saturday, authorities didn't immediately release a description of the shooter from the overnight incident.
