LAS VEGAS (AP) — The sheriff in Las Vegas says a Clark County jail detainee who was in custody for about 11 days was released to a hospital and tested positive for the new coronavirus, but there are no cases of the COVID-19 respiratory illness at the 3,100-bed facility.

The development was one of many on Wednesday related to the outbreak that has closed casinos, shuttered businesses, diminished tourism and prompted the University of Nevada, Reno to cancel spring commencement.

Air traffic controllers returned at McCarran International Airport, where flights are fewer a week after the tower closed because of an employee with the virus.
