LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Many attended watch parties in cities across the country to view the first 2020 presidential debate, including Las Vegas.

ELECTION 2020:5 key takeaways from Tuesday’s presidential debate

About 100 President Donald Trump supporters gathered at Rhythm Kitchen for a watch party Tuesday.

Voters there said that they think the president did a great job relaying what accomplishments he’s made while in office.

“With the increase in returns on investments and lower unemployment rates, he’s done a great job,” Kathy Njus said.

Supporters also defended the president’s stance on mail-in ballots and believe that election integrity is everything.

“We don’t have a system if our votes aren’t counted and when they wind up being in the trash or they’re dumping ballots - it’s a problem,” said Staci Grunewald.

At a home near Charleston Boulevard and Eastern Avenue, Biden supporters nestled together to watch the debate.

First-time voter Roxanne Perez-Guzeman says Biden is her pick because she comes from an immigrant background and believes he will protect those most at stake.

“I think it’s about protecting everyone who is a minority, people who are LGBTQ, Black, brown, and indigenous people,” Perez-Guzeman said.

Nevada State Assemblyman Edgar Flores says it was difficult to listen to a president who he believes does not acknowledge the impact that his words have.

“It’s once again President Trump not accepting accountability for what he’s done and Joe Biden talking about his plans,” Flores said.
