UPDATE NOV. 7: 13 Action News spoke with witnesses of the deadly home invasion Monday night.
"I just want to know, could I have saved him?" said Stephanie Gruttadauria. "I just feel awful."
Gruttadauria dated the victim, Tom Jones, for nearly three years.
She says there were four people inside when the suspects forcefully entered the home. Gruttadauria said the two men were yelling.
"Give me the stuff!" she said.
A roommate and a friend jumped out a side window.  Gruttadauria hid in the bathroom before opening the door.
"The guy is right there with his gun in my face," she said.
Gruttadauria said the suspects wanted some drugs and cash that were inside the house. Her boyfriend was killed after a gun that was pointed to his head went off.
"I honestly think it was an accident," she said.
The young woman said she's living in fear until the suspects are captured.
"I'm so scared because I'm a witness," she said.
Gruttadauria said Jones was the most intelligent person she had ever met. The couple dreamed of opening up a scuba shop in the Virgin Islands.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Police are searching for two men after a deadly shooting Saturday afternoon.
Officers say it was a drug-related home invasion near Torrey Pines Drive and Twain Avenue that appeared to specifically target the male victim.
Police say two men entered the home and shot the victim, possibly in the head, after a physical struggle.
Some neighbors say they weren't shocked this happened.
"There was some drug relation to it when it happened a couple years ago," said Dottie Barron, who's lived down the street for nearly 20 years. "Two guys got into a fight and they called the police."
Two other people who live in the home were inside during the home invasion, according to police.
Officers say those roommates ran out when they heard the gunshot and were not hurt.
Investigators are working to determine the relationship between the victim and the two suspects.
