A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a vehicle near Durango Drive and Desert Inn Road Sunday night.
Police confirm that the fatal accident occurred at the 2900 block of south Durango Drive, south of Edna Avenue, around 9:20 p.m.
It appears a 56-year-old woman was crossing in the middle of the block when she stepped in front of a Jeep, said Sgt. Richard Strader from Metro's fatal detail. She was identified as Sherri Green.
The driver of the Jeep remained on scene and cooperated with police.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash, said Sgt. Strader.
Durango was closed in both directions while police investigated the scene.
This was the first traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for 2016.
