Pedestrian killed by possible drunk driver Wednesday night

UPDATE AUG. 4: The Clark County Coroner has identified the pedestrian as 57-year-old Duane Rideout.

ORIGINAL STORY: A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle near Martin Luther King and Lake Mead boulevards on Wednesday night.

It was reported at 9:39 p.m. Police say that a Nissan was traveling west on Lake Mead Boulevard in the middle lane when the car hit a male pedestrian crossing the street.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, 59-year-old Mattie Harris, was arrrested for being under the influence.

This was the 84th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas for this year. The Clark County coroner will release name of deceased after relatives have been notified.
