One person is dead after a summer crash.
On July 17 around 2:44 a.m., a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near Maryland Parkway west of Desert Inn Road.
Investigators say a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado was stopped at the red traffic signal in the middle eastbound travel lane of Desert Inn Road.
According to a witness, a pedestrian was walking in stopped traffic west of the intersection asking stopped motorists for money.
After the traffic signal turned green the pedestrian started walking towards the south sidewalk in front of the stopped Chevrolet Silverado and crossed the path of an approaching 2014 Honda Civic traveling in the outside eastbound travel lane.
Simultaneously the driver of the Honda Civic swerved to the left to avoid the pedestrian and clipped the right front of the Chevrolet Silverado with its left rear.
The driver of the Honda Civic remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment.
The pedestrian was transported to Sunrise Trauma Center with injuries determined to be critical by Trauma Staff.
On Oct. 5, the LVMPD Fatal Detail was notified by the Clark County Coroner Medical Examiner's Office
that the pedestrian involved had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at an area hospice facility.
Their identity has not been released.
The collision remains under investigation.
