A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a Jeep on Spring Mountain Road near Stober Boulevard.

It happened on Friday around 6:30 p.m.
The pedestrian was in the center turnout lane, according to police. That's when a suspected drunk driver drifted into the center lane, striking the man.
Firefighters performed CPR, according to witnesses. The man was rushed to the hospital but he did not survive.
The driver of the Jeep initially fled the scene, said police.
About an hour later, investigators said the driver turned himself in.

The coroner has not yet revealed the name on the deceased.
