A bicyclist died in a crash early Sunday morning off St. Rose Parkway.

Nevada Highway Patrol reported around 1:40 a.m., a Polaris off-road vehicle struck a man on a bicycle while going westbound on St. Rose, near the northbound Interstate 15 off-ramp. The Polaris driver overcorrected after the crash and rolled the vehicle.

The 59-year-old male bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Karl Frederick Vanderwyk of Las Vegas. He died of multiple blunt force injuries due to the crash.

The 28-year-old male Polaris driver was transported to UMC Trauma with non-life threatening injuries. He is being investigated for driving under the influence.

The northbound I-15 off-ramp was closed for several hours while only one lane westbound on St. Rose Parkway was open as NHP investigated the crash.
