UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Michael Matthew Sabicer of Las Vegas.
ORIGINAL STORY:
One man is dead after crashing his ATV in the desert area near the 5300 block of Starr Hills Avenue around 1:13 p.m. Sunday.
Police say the male driver and a female passenger were headed downhill when the man lost control, causing the ATV to roll and flip at least two times. He was thrown off the ATV while the passenger was able to stay on the vehicle.
The male died from his injuries while the female passenger was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Officials say neither one was wearing a seatbelt or a helmet. The driver was also inexperienced.
