LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — El Torito Cafe opened in 1975. Now, 45 years later, is the oldest Mexican restaurant in Nevada.

Gia Colletti, the manager at El Torito Cafe said her grandparents had a dream many years ago to bring authentic Mexican food to the Las Vegas valley.

Now that her grandparents have passed on, Gia and her mother run the show.

"Everyone is like family, the community is our family. We wouldn't be here without them," Colletti said.

She says they cook with all fresh ingredients and a lot of their recipes have been in their family for more than 50 years.

Colletti credits her strong family values for the restaurant's longevity.

She says keeping their Hispanic culture first and showing their pride was at the heart of it all.

Colletti plans on passing the family business down to her own son one day.

El Torito Cafe is located at 2126 S Boulder Highway in Henderson.
