A suspect who was shot by a Washoe County sheriff's deputy during a stabbing north of Reno three weeks ago has been released from the hospital and now faces multiple criminal charges.
Sparks police who are investigating the officer-involved shooting say 20-year-old Maurice Garcia was booked into the county jail on Sunday for suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon, assault of a peace officer with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
Sheriff's deputies were responding to a report of a stabbing at a residence in Sun Valley on Feb. 4 when Garcia came to the door with what appeared to be a black handgun.
It turned out to be a replica Beretta 6mm caliber BB gun that was recovered at the scene after the deputies shot him.
Two victims were hospitalized with stab wounds.
The investigation is ongoing.
