North Las Vegas police report child approached by man in van Monday

North Las Vegas police are reporting that a child was approached by a man in a van Monday.

The incident happened near Bruce Street and Ann Road, not far from Jesse D. Scott Elementary School. Police said the man was in a white van with letters on the back.

Police said they will be stepping up patrols in the area. 

A similar incident happened the following day. Tuesday, law enforcement officials say they are investigating a report that three students were approached by a man who asked them to get into his vehicle.

This incident happened around 8 a.m. Tuesday near Richard H. Bryan Elementary School, located near Buffalo Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard. The vehicle was only described as a black SUV.

How can you make sure your kids stay safe? Parents, tell your kids:

  • Do not entertain strangers. Don't tell them your name or address. 
  • Never accept offers or requests (e.g. help me find my pet, etc.)
  • Never get into a car with someone you do not know.
  • It's best to walk in groups.
