A North Las Vegas man died in an off-road crash last weekend in Amargosa Valley.
Around 11 a.m. May 28, Nye County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the Amargosa Sand Dunes located at U.S. 95 and Valley View Road in Amargosa Valley for a report of a crash involving an off-road vehicle.
Upon arrival, deputies were informed by witnesses that a 59-year-old man was operating an off-road vehicle in the sand dunes' recreational area and was ejected from the vehicle at some point when he crossed over one of the dunes.
The investigation revealed he was not restrained and not wearing a protective helmet. Emergency medical aid was rendered to the victim.
He eventually succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. This incident is still under investigation pending autopsy results.
The man has been identified as Steven William Lewis, age 59, of North Las Vegas.
