The North Las Vegas Fire Department, in partnership with Neighborhood Housing Services of So. Nevada, will be hosting an Open House at Fire Station 55, located at 5725 Allen Lane, on Saturday.
The community is invited to attend a free pancake breakfast from 9–11 a.m. The breakfast is being provided by a grant from Neighborhood Housing Services and Denny’s. Fire Chief Joseph Calhoun welcome remarks begin around 9:30 a.m.
Firefighters will be giving station tours indoors and demonstrating a kitchen cooking fire scenario outdoors.
Educational literature on fire safety, drowning prevention, emergency preparedness planning, and smoke alarms will be available. The North Las Vegas Police Department Community Services Division has a comprehensive ID kit that includes inkless fingerprinting for children, DNA collection swab, and wallet card for parents to keep at home in case of emergency.
There will also be first aid and CPR instruction, as well as blood pressure checks available free of charge to attendees.
