LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — In the past year, several large hotel chains were hit with lawsuits after they were accused of padding customer bills with hidden resort fees.
Lawmakers in Nebraska and Texas now fighting back with the introduction of the hotel advertising transparency act of 2019.
A bipartisan bill that aims to establish transparency when it comes to pricing of hotel rooms.
It centers around resort fees which charge guests for things like using fitness centers and in room WiFi, regardless of whether the guest takes advantage of those amenities.
If passed, the bill would require those prices to be displayed in full at the time of booking.
