Law enforcement authorities in northern Nevada say two skiers have been rescued in the area around the border with California.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the men contacted emergency officials around 5 p.m. Thursday and said they got lost while skiing at Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.

Twenty-four-year-old Timothy Dane, of Branford, Connecticut, and 25-year-old Eshai Delacruz, of San Francisco, were found about three hours later in an area known as Mott Canyon.

The sheriff's office says rescuers helped Delacruz evacuate Thursday night.

Authorities say Dane had a medical condition that prevented him from skiing. Rescuers set up emergency shelters and a helicopter lifted him Friday morning, after the weather improved.

Authorities say both men have been cited for skiing out of bounds from the resort.
