LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — On June 27th each year the world recognizes the effects post traumatic stress can have on the lives of those affected by it.

Kelly Guirdy and her husband care for veterans and address PTSD through their nonprofit organization, Forgotten Not Gone.

This year, in honor of National PTSD awareness Day they are partnering with The Source, a medical marijuana dispensary.

The collaboration is in effort to show how cannabis could be the key to treating people with PTSD.

The source says they will donate one dollar per transaction to Guirdy's organization and The Source will match each donation for every dollar raised.

Other organizations are recognizing the impact of PTSD too.

Although most people associate PTSD with service members and those who have survived events such as 1 October, Silver State Health says there are countless things that can lead to it.

"Many things can cause post traumatic stress disorder from a simple fall, car accident, to being a victim of abuse, domestic violence," Ingrid Sanchez, Silver State Social Worker said.
