A motorcyclist has been identified after a deadly crash Sunday evening.

The crash was reported around 7:20 p.m. on Windmill Lane, west of Vista Palmas Boulevard, near Bermuda Road. Police said a driver of the Ford Explorer was turning left into a driveway and failed to yield to a motorcyclist, identified as 20-year-old Donald Wayne Miller III of Henderson, riding a Yamada R3.

The front of the motorcycle struck the right side of the Ford Explorer at the front passenger door. The rider was ejected through the right front passenger window and the helmet of the rider struck the driver of the Ford Explorer. The motorcycle rider fell to the ground in the parking lot and the Ford Explorer continued traveling south.

The Ford Explorer continued south in the parking lot until the front of the vehicle struck the left side of a 2003 Nissan Altima that was parked at the south end of the lot. The Ford Explorer then rolled backward a short distance until the vehicle made contact with a raised curb surrounding a planted tree.

The motorcyclist Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Explorer, identified as 34-year-old James Vermillion of Henderson, was transported by ambulance to UMC Trauma for serious head and facial injuries.

Police said Vermillion exhibited signs of impairment and was booked in absentia for driving under the influence resulting in death.
