The MGM Arena is getting closer and closer to completion. Now that the announcement has been made that country legend, George Strait, is set to open in the arena, many are wondering if an NHL team will follow suit.
"Yes, I'm working really hard to bring a professional hockey team here as well, for the first time," says Jim Murren, the CEO and Chairman of MGM Resorts International. "Las Vegas will get what it deserves, which is a professional team."
The decision is now in the hands of NHL officials, who are still reviewing the city's application for the team, as part of the third and final stage of the process. Their decision could come by the end of September.
