LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas could be one step closer to bringing marijuana lounges to the valley after several lawmakers traveled to San Francisco in November to learn about their lounges.

Right now, people are only allowed to smoke recreational marijuana in their homes, but most of the city's millions of tourists don't have that option.

That's why some lawmakers are pushing for marijuana lounges. County commissioner-elect Tick Segerblom, and other assembly members, traveled to San Francisco to check out their lounge. Today, city leaders will be discussing what they learned, and also talk about how to regulate the lounges.

"I'm sure they'll restrict to areas where families and schools are not present," says Segerblom.

If it passes, it still could take about a year for the lounges to get up and running.
