A man was shot to death Monday night at an apartment complex near Karen Avenue and Lamb Boulevard.

Las Vegas police say the shooting happened around 9 p.m. in the 4500 block of Karen Avenue. One man was shot and transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Police say the man was in his 20s. They called it a brazen shooting because the suspect shot multiple rounds, firing into a nearby car and an unrelated apartment. A child under the age of 12 years old picked up one of the bullets inside the apartment.

Police said a dispute occurred inside one of the apartments located in the same complex. The victim of the homicide arrived at that apartment and got into a verbal altercation with a man involved in the initial disturbance.

The two men went outside where soon after, gunshots were heard and the victim was discovered shot. The other man left the scene before officers’ arrival.

Detectives are looking to interview a person of interest, identified as 44-year-old Lacy Howard, in connection with this event.

This is the 19th homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2016.

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
