AUG. 2 UPDATE: The officers from a shooting on July 29 involving the North Las Vegas Police Department have been identified. NLVPD says the officers are Forrest Walker, Laura Meza, Tyler Edwards and Collin Francis.

Officer Walker has been with NLVPD for two years.

Officer Edwards has been with NLVPD for three years.

Officer Meza and Francis have both been with NLVPD for one year.

All four officers are on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Police in North Las Vegas say a man in his 20s was shot and killed during a shooting involving the department.

According to authorities, officers were near Bruce Street and Tonopah Avenue around 2 a.m. to investigate reports of a man with a gun when they saw someone carrying a machete.

The officers say they gave the man verbal commands but he refused to comply.

He then lunged at the officers with the machete raised, police say. Four of the responding officers shot at the man, hitting him multiple times.

The man was transported to University Medical Center where he later died.

The Clark County coroner will identify the deceased after notification.

The officers involved will be identified within 72 hours and are on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
