Magic Johnson to be honored in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) - Magic Johnson will be honored in Las Vegas next week for his life accomplishments.

A pop-up concert at Mandalay Bay Beach will be held in recognition of Earvin "Magic" Johnson's footprint in sports, entertainment, and community, according to an event press release. 

The "Magic Johnson's Showtime" event will feature live performances by Snoop Dogg and other close friends of the star.

This special occasion concert will start at 9 p.m. on Oct. 9 with ticket options posted here.  

Highlights of Magic's career will also be shared during the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers preseason basketball game at T-Mobile Arena on Oct. 10.

A special halftime ceremony will be held with Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman proclaiming Oct. 10 as "Magic Johnson Day" while presenting him with a key to the city.
