LVMPD investigating employees who may have participated in Capitol riot

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed that it received information that some of its employees may have participated in last week’s riot at the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

The police department says they intend to conduct a thorough inquiry into these allegations and will cooperate with federal officials in any way we can to aid in this investigation.

As the FBI continues its investigation into the attack on the Capitol in Washington D.C. the LVMPD received information that some of its employees may have participated. The Henderson Police Department said it was unaware of any of its employees being a part of the events seen at the Capitol building.

Virginia and Washington state have placed officers on leave while they investigate possible participation.

Seattle’s police department placed two officers on administrative leave while it investigates.

Fire departments in Florida and New York City have also said that they are investigating reports of employee participation.

The riot resulted in the death of one police officer and four other people.
