LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — One teenager is dead after a botched drug deal in Las Vegas.

On Friday Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired near an apartment complex located in the 3900 block of East Cheyenne Avenue.

When police arrived, they saw someone giving CPR to a Black teen suffering from a gunshot wound. The teenager was transported to UMC hospital where he later died of his injury.

Las Vegas police say someone across the street flagged officers down before stating he was involved in the shooting.

Police believe from their current investigation that the person who flagged officers down and the teen met for a drug deal. During the drug deal, things escalated due to a potential robbery causing gunshots to be fired resulting in the death of the teen.
