UPDATE: Coroner identifies victim of deadly shooting at Motel 6

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — UPDATE OCT. 8: The Clark County Coroner has identified the victim as 39-year-old James Triplett from Las Vegas. His cause of death was a gunshout wound to the head and it was ruled a homicide.

Las Vegas police are looking the person possibly involved in a deadly shooting at Motel 6.

Authorities say the shooting took place at just before 10 a.m. at the motel on Dean Martin Drive between Tropicana and Hacienda avenues.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area and found someone dead on the scene.

Police say they have one person detained and are looking for a man described by authorities as a suspect who ran from the scene.
