LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — An innocent Las Vegas man who spent 22 years behind bars is now getting a big payday from the State of Nevada.
DeMarlo Berry was sentenced to life in prison for murder back in 1994 but was released in 2017 after another man confessed to the crime.

Today a financial award of more than $2 million was approved by a state panel.
Berry is the first person to receive a certificate of innocence and damages for wrongful imprisonment under a new state law passed last year.
