LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Some Henderson residents aren't happy to see a change in their natural gas bill.

Sebastian Tournier of Henderson says he's been a customer with Southwest Gas since 2016.

Tournier says his bill jumped from $60 to $90 and he wasn't notified about the increase from the company.

13 Action News reached out to Southwest Gas to find out why. In a statement, the company said:

There are several factors to consider when reviewing natural gas bills, including the cost of gas and seasonal weather conditions.

The recent increase in some customers’ gas bills is largely due to an increase in the cost of gas from our supplier. The cost of gas is what Southwest Gas pays to purchase natural gas from our suppliers to deliver to our customers. We do not profit from this increase. Our customers pay what we pay.

Additionally, when the weather gets cold, natural gas furnaces in our customers’ homes are working overtime – which can increase the amount of gas that’s used by our customers. Putting both factors together, some customers may notice an increase in their gas bill. Southwest Gas is committed to delivering natural gas safely and reliably to more than three-quarters of a million customers in Nevada and believe in being transparent. Customers can view their monthly bill 24/7, using our Southwest Gas app or MyAccount on swgas.com.
