NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — North Las Vegas police shot a man suspected of trying to hit a police officer with his car on Sunday afternoon.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of East Tropical Parkway and Nicco Way.
Officers initially responded to reports at around 1:54 p.m. of a suspicious car with two adults and three children.
When police arrived, they talked to the driver who was outside the car for several minutes. The man proceeded to jump into the car, where instead of leaving, he circled back and hit one of the officers. As a result, an officer fired at the suspect, according to North Las Vegas Police.
The car came to a stop in the median, where the suspect was removed from the car and taken into custody.
The man sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital, while the officer sustained minor injuries.
Tropical Parkway and Nicco Way are closed to traffic for the time being.
