A former Las Vegas Academy teacher has been arrested for a warrant regarding sexual misconduct with a student.

The 56-year-old Morris was assigned to home that same month due to the allegation and later retired in May. He first joined CCSD in February 1990.

CCSD police submitted a warrant to the District Attorney's Office in January but the warrant was not issued until Sept. 5. Morris was pulled over for a traffic violation on Sept. 9 and arrested on that warrant.

He faces a charge of engaging in sex with a pupil between 16 and 17 years old. Morris has since bailed out of jail.
