It was a busy night for firefighters, starting in the evening of February 16 and extending through the morning hours of Feb. 17.

The first fire happened at 6221 Bellota Drive, near Lake Mead and Jones boulevards, around 10:50 p.m. Feb. 16. Though firefighters were able to get the flames under control in less than 15 minutes, the fire still caused $100,000 in damage.

Firefighters say that the fire was sparked by the electrical wiring in the attic, and was determined to be an accident. 18 people from four different apartments were displaced. No one was injured.

The second fire happened at a mobile home on 5900 West Tropicana Avenue, near Jones Boulevard, around 4:45 a.m. Feb. 17.

A total of 35 fire personnel responded to the incident, which caused between $75,000 and $100,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the Red Cross is assisting the four adults that lived in the home. No injuries were reported.
