LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Tom Delahunty and his wife Antonia are devoted Vegas Golden Knights fans.

"The Golden Knights made us hockey fans,” Antonia said.

“I agree with her,” Tom said. “I followed hockey very little until we got a team. And now it’s my favorite sport."

They have matching jerseys with their nicknames on the back. They have season tickets, towels, bobbleheads, souvenir pucks, and even wine.

"When we had that season that we had last season,” said Tom. “And especially the way it started after the October 1 tragedy of the shooting - everybody has talked about it, and it’s true. It’s a bond. It's a bond between the city and this team."

But what they don't have is the satisfaction of seeing the team clinch the first round of the playoffs against the San Jose Sharks here at home.

"But sometimes it just comes down to puck luck,” Tom said. “And we didn’t get lucky with the puck the times we needed to. And we suffered a heartbreaking loss in double overtime."

Rather than sitting on the sofa in front of a television Tuesday night they're finding their way to San Jose.

“I just immediately went online and started checking on airline tickets and actual hockey tickets,” Tom said. “For two airlines tickets, one hotel stay and two seats it’s going to be just about $2,000.”

And the couple told 13 Action News that the trip is worth every golden cent.

"Game 7 this is worth it,” Tom said. “If I'm ever going do it. This is going to be it. I want to see the Sharks’ fans suffering like I suffered.”
