LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas police have arrested a local man after he reportedly injured his dog along with throwing another one against a wall.

John Rabo, 24, was taken into custody at an apartment located at 210 Baltimore Avenue on May 3 at about 5:45 p.m. after officers were called about a possible battery incident.

Officers said they were informed that Rabo kicked Maxim, his dog, multiple times and that the animal went into shock while also pushing his brother, who was trying to stop him, into a wall.

Rabo's mother told police that he appeared to get angry while the dog was at his feet and started kicking the animal.

Animal Control arrived at the apartment and told police that Maxim was indeed breathing hard and in a state of shock.

Officers said Rabo was booked on charges of battery along with willful/malicious torture/maim/kill a dog or cat/animals.

Las Vegas police said the 24-year-old showed prior records of burglary, false statement to obstruct, and battery on a protected person.

Rabo was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a $5,000 bail with a scheduled court appearance on May 6.
