Police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a woman near South Maryland Parkway and East St. Louis Avenue on May 14.

Officers were initially called to the scene after witnesses in the area heard a woman screaming for help. Las Vegas police were eventually able to locate the woman near East Sahara Avenue and 6th Street. She told them she was sexually assaulted.

An investigation by police indicated that the woman contacted a ride-booking service near Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Louis Avenue, but her phone died. She walked across the street near a fast food restaurant, and a black Kia 4-door sedan pulled up next to her. The male driver inside asked if she needed a ride.

The woman got into the car, but the driver didn't follow her directions. He instead drove to the 1800 block of 9th Street, near Oakey Boulevard. The man parked on the street and sexually assaulted the woman at gunpoint.

Eventually, the woman escaped from the car and ran away to get help.

The driver is described as a Hispanic male, between 45-50 years old, and has a heavy build, short hair, a beard, and a mustache.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact Las Vegas police at 702-828-3421. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
