UPDATE NOV. 22: Police say that Marcus Maddox called police before attempting to kill his wife, Tishia Maddox.
Maddox reportedly called 911 after injuring his wife. When he was asked if he needed police, medical or fire, he responded "we need all of the above." When he was asked what happened, he said "we have a woman truly beaten and a man shot in the head."
When he was asked when the incident occurred, the man responded "earlier and right now."
The person was then heard apologizing to someone in the background and breathing heavily. He then said "I love you baby" and gunshots were heard.
Both Maddox and his wife were still alive when police arrived at the room in Siegel Suites. According to the report, Tishia Maddox had been struck repeatedly in the head with a blunt force object and was suffering from severe brain trauma.
Marcus Maddox was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
UPDATE: Las Vegas police have named Marcus Maddox as the suspect in the stabbing of two children at the Budget Suites on South Las Vegas Boulevard and the attack of the woman on East Craig Road.
ORIGINAL STORY: One child is dead and another is in critical condition at UMC Trauma after being stabbed by a man believed to have been their father.
Police say they received a call at about 6 p.m. Sunday about a man attacking his wife at Siegel Suites in the 5200 block of East Craig Road.
The man and woman were transported to UMC Trauma. The woman is in very critical condition and the man is in critical condition.
The children were discovered on Monday morning by an employee of Child Protective Services at the Budget Budget Suites near Las Vegas Boulevard and Wigwam. It is believed that the father harmed the children on Sunday before hurting himself and their mother.
The children are believed to be 12 and 15 years old. Police say that the 12-year-old girl who died was stabbed in the chest. The 15-year-old boy was also stabbed and has a skull fracture.
Police say that CPS knew the children's whereabouts and went to check on them after hearing about the incident involving the parents.
A police spokesperson say that their officers became aware that the man had been accused of sexually abuse involving a child while investigating the incident between the man and the woman but they did not know where they could be found on Sunday night.
The police department says that they will be looking into why the information about their location was not communicated to them and hope that the mother is able to speak at some point. They don't know at this point how the woman was separated from the children.
