NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — FEB. 4 UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner has identified the man as 20-year-old Rayshawn A. Williams from Los Angeles. His cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and it was ruled a homicide.

Detectives are investigating a homicide after finding a body in the desert northeast of Las Vegas on Monday.

According to North Las Vegas Police Department, officers responded to reports of a "man laying in the desert" area near Las Vegas and Clark Peterson boulevards around 9 a.m. on Jan. 25.

When they arrived they found the body of a man believed to be around 25 to 35 years old.

Due to environmental factors, authorities say more time was needed to determine his cause of death, which has since been deemed a homicide.

The coroner will release his identity and an official cause of death at a later time.

The investigation remains ongoing and police say no additional details are available at this time.

Anyone with information about any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area between Jan. 24 through Jan. 25 is asked to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at (702) 633-9111 or Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 to submit an anonymous tip.
