LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The owner of the Alpine Motel Apartments and his associate appeared in a Las Vegas courtroom on Tuesday morning.

Adolfo Orozco-Garcia and Malinda Mier are facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and others for a fire that killed 6 people and injured many others in December 2019.

Orozco-Garcia was granted $50,000 bail and must surrender all weapons. He also has to appoint someone to oversee and make decisions on his property. However, he is still financially responsible.

Mier was granted $10,000 bail and her passport will be electronically monitored. She can not have any contact with anyone associated with the case.

Part 1 of their preliminary hearing is set for 2 p.m. Aug. 18. It is expected to continue Aug. 20 and 24.
