Nye County arrests man who ambushed deputy

UPDATE: The Nye County Sheriff's Office says Jeffrey Stevens was arrested around 9 a.m. Thursday near Albertson's and Walmart after a foot pursuit.

He was transported to Desert View Hospital after his arrest. From there, he will be transported to the Nye County Detention Center.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they say ambushed a deputy.

Police said 46-year-old Jeffrey Stevens ambushed a deputy and attempted to get his firearm from him. After the ambush, the suspect fled on foot from the area of Simkins Road and State Route 160. The Nye County Sheriff's Office did not specify when the incident occurred.

The deputy suffered non-life threatening injuries and is receiving medical condition.

Stevens is considered dangerous. He is described as being 6’1”, 185 pounds, blonde hair, blue eyes and no facial hair at this time.
