NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — North Las Vegas Police detectives are still trying to solve a homicide that occurred earlier this year on Jan. 8. Detectives need the public’s help identifying a potential suspect in this case.

The preliminary investigation revealed on at about 5 a.m. Jan. 28, officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of Indian Springs Avenue, in reference to an unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk. Arriving officers located a 25-year-old male, later identified as Sidney McKnight, lying on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the man deceased on scene.

The investigation indicated the victim lived in the surrounding neighborhood. Witnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots between 2 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. but did not report them to the police department.

Detectives are still working on a motive for the homicide and are working around the clock attempting to identify a suspect at this time.

The family members of McKNight still check in with NLVPD regularly for possible updates as they mourn the loss of their loved one.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
