UPDATE: Teen charged in homicide sleeps in court

LATEST: The teenager accused of shooting and killing a North Las Vegas man appeared in court Tuesday, after running from police for weeks.  

19-year-old Daniel Rodriguez appeared to be sleeping in court and at one point, even nodded off.  The person next to him nudged him to wake him up, and pay attention. 

Family members of victim, Antonio Hernandez, said this was the first time they had seen the suspect. 

"It was shocking, sad and unexpected," said the victim's niece, Yahaira Hernandez. 

UPDATE: 19-year-old Daniel Rodriguez was arrested in the July 8 shooting in North Las Vegas.

Rodriguez was taken into police custody in Las Vegas, on a warrant. He faces the charge of murder with a deadly weapon as well as other charges related to his initial stop.

NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- A man is dead following a shooting in North Las Vegas Friday evening.

Around 7 p.m. officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 1800 block of Belmont Street, between Lake Mead Boulevard and Owens Avenue.

Arriving officers found a North Las Vegas man inside a residence, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel transported the victim to University Medical Center in critical condition where he later died.

The Clark County coroner identified the man as 32-year-old Antonio Hernandez. He died of a gunshot wound to the head.

The preliminary investigation indicates there was a disturbance at the residence prior to the shooting. There are no suspects in custody at this time.
