LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Nevada Highway Patrol released video of an incident earlier this month that involved a man being shot and tased by troopers after he began throwing rocks at them.
This situation took place as NHP troopers were investigating another incident involving a pedestrian around 12:20 a.m. on Oct. 4, near Eastern Avenue and U.S. 95, when they encountered the suspect.
The man, later identified as 28-year-old Steve Garcia, began throwing rocks at the troopers and ran away from them when confronted.
The troopers, with the help of Las Vegas police, chased Garcia.
A trooper then shot at him when he resisted arrest, and another tased him, according to NHP.
Garcia was eventually taken into custody and facing four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, obstructing a public officer, under the influence of a controlled substance, and three counts of throwing a deadly missile.
The NHP identified the trooper involved in the shooting as 14-year veteran Jineal Jack. She was placed on routine administrative leave, pending the investigation of this incident.
