LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Hate crimes against members of the Asian-American community have gone up in recent weeks.

Most notably in northern California's Bay Area, at least 20 violent crimes against Asian Americans have been reported in Oakland in recent weeks.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tells 13 Action News it has not seen a rise of crimes like that here in the valley.

Officers say they are continually meeting with leadership in Chinatown.

There are real-time crime cameras in the area as well.

Officers will be in the Chinatown area as the Lunar New Year begins on Friday.
