LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Many businesses are shutting their doors to help slow the spread of COVID-19. However, some businesses have been deemed essential, and that includes bike shops.

Chris, a manager with McGhie's Ski, Bike & Board says their business is critical because many of their customers use bikes as their primary mode of transportation.

"Sometimes the appeal of riding the bus at this point in time isn't exactly the highest," says Chris. "A bike is a great mode of transportation."

Another reason bike shops remain open could be for mental health. Chris says he's noticed even more people wanting to get outdoors. Many people cooped up are finding renewed interest in riding their bike. He hopes that sticks once things open back up.

NOTE: The bike shop is open for REPAIRS ONLY. They are not allowed to sell anything that is not necessary to repair a bicycle.
