While the Clark County School District investigates an alleged case of bullying at Eldorado High School, we wanted to know the bigger picture.

What's the risk your child will be the victim of bullying? And is the problem is getting worse?

According to a Contact 13 analysis, bullying is happening more often.  We also learned that collecting data on bullying is rather new for the district starting just 4 years ago in the 2011-2012 school year. In that year, 1,584 incidents of bullying and intimidation were reported districtwide.

There were 1,736 the following year. And the most recent data is for the 2013-2014 school year, when the number was up to about 2,200 incidents.

We asked the district Wednesday afternoon to explain the increase, and we're still waiting for their response.

At Eldorado High, they're seeing the opposite trend with 11 incidents reported in 2012-2013 but only two in the most recent year reported. Both of those were considered cyberbullying.
