There is fear in the minds of parents in North Las Vegas after a recent wave of violence.

The person who shot and killed a teenage boy this week is still on the run as officers have solid leads but no arrests had been made.

"It's crazy because as a mom you don't know if your son is going to come home not come home. It's crazy and it's senseless," a concerned mother told 13 Action News as she's worried about her kids leaving her house everyday.

A former gang member, Pastor Troy Martinez knows first-hand, Las Vegas has a problem.

"We're absolutely outraged that people are dying. They're not completing high school not because they flunked out. It's because they're murdered," Martinez said.

The Mayors Faith Initiative met this week and leaders spent the morning coming up with ideas to fight the gang violence.

Police departments are also working together on this problem as an officer with the Clark County School District has also been added to the gang task force.
